Artist Statement 

My work is defined by a combination of abstract surrealism, futurism, and technological influences. With a visual language of its own, it presents a dreamlike, fantastical world that reflects innovation, new possibilities, and humanity’s accelerating technological future, along with the uncertainty that accompanies this transformation.

Against black, indigo, and often ethereal backgrounds, the work unfolds as a dramatic array of brightly colored, hard-edged, abstract, futuristic, geometric and biomorphic forms. Existing as physical objects, the imagery crosses the boundaries between the tangible, the graphic, and the virtual. Through luminous, aerodynamic, and techno-patterned precision, these forms echo the seductive allure of modern technology itself. Ranging from textural to glitzy and from industrial to sleek, they reflect the accelerating convergence of biological and mechanical systems that is increasingly shaping everyday life.

Underlying the work is a sense of ambiguity that invites multiple interpretations. The relationships between these elements create a visual dialogue that engages the viewer’s imagination and the encouragement of personal connection. The imagery may evoke the premonitions of microscopic organisms, scientific instruments, or imagined technologies of an unfolding future. Many of these associations emerge through my practice of automatic drawing, a Surrealist meditative process through which I develop ideas and visual inventions that become the imagery for my work.  

Influences on my work include a longstanding interest in microbiology, architecture, and science fiction, as well as artists, Yves Tanguy and Joan Miró. Even more formative were the years spent observing my father’s artistic practice of painting, welding, bronze casting, and photography.
